Lots of Fabulous Color!

Hello All it's my turn up over at Art Anthology

As you may already know  This month the Art Anthology Dream Team is focusing on ways to recycle in our art. I decided to use cereal boxes, you can see how over on the AA Blog to see how today.
But before I got started I decided I needed a bit more inspiration to get started. So I went out in search of a sketch and I found an amazing one over at PageMaps. So with S.W.A.T's drill #30 in mind I went to work with my beautiful Art Anthology products in hand. This is what I came up with.

For Drill #30 you need to include items that spell out the word FLOWER. I used
(F) Frame (L) Lace (O) Orange (W) Wood (E) Enamel Dots (R) Red

Make sure you hop on over and check this out!! You could win a $15 Gift Card to Paper Secrets!  You have until the end of the month to link up over at S.W.A.T Scrap Warriors.

While I was digging thru my stash to find my embellishments I found these cute little Wood Veneer Glasses from Creative Embellishments. So I hopped on over to check out their monthly challenge and found more inspiration for my layout! For their Challenge you need to use at least 4 of the 10 items they have listed. I used lace, I doodled a bit, enamel dots, paint & m (thanks to my Art Anthology!), Gesso, I dry embossed my cereal boxes and I used a stamp flourish.

Just a few closer looks :)
Don't you just love how bright Art Anthology is!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Paper or Plastic?

Hello All! Today I am up over at Art Anthology and let me tell you I have a super fun canvas to share!! But first let me give you a bit of a back story.....

As you may know Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, Earth Day is now a globally celebrated holiday that is sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green awareness. So in honor of Earth Day our theme this month over at Art Anthology is Recycling!

Now that’s easy right…? Well yes and no, I wanted to do something different not my same old re-purpose reuse recycling. So I picked something strange, something bad for the environment and something that I need to stop bringing home. So what did I use?

Yep! I used plastic shopping bags to make my canvas. Now I will admit that when I started I thought I was making rolled roses for a pretty spring themed project.

As you can see I started by ripping the bags into long strips. I then glued them to the center of a paper circle. From there I just rolled, twisted and glued. They ended up looking like this:

Next I added a layer of gesso and some bright Art Anthology Colorations Spray & a tiny bit of stamping.

While my roses dried I went to work on my canvas adding doilies, mesh and heavy gesso for lots of yummy texture! Then I used so more Art Anthology Colorations Spray to create my landscape. This is what it looked like when I went to bed.

I woke up looked at my canvas and I really was NOT feeling my roses, so I walked away and started to plan my next project.  a few days went by and nothing I had no idea, but then something happened. My girls wanted to watch the Lorax and that's when it hit me! Sitting there watching a movie I've seen more than a hundred times, it just clicked! I didn't make roses I made Truffula Trees! That night thanks to Dr. Seuss I finished my canvas.

Some details for fun :)

So this Earth Day (and everyday) I will try to keep this quote in mind and strive to make some greener choices. But hey if I slip up and bring home more plastic bags at least I know I can make some pretty trees!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Choose to Shine tag

Hello All!

I hope you are having a great weekend! I know I am, even its a crazy busy one! But I still just had to stop in and share this sweet little tag.I created for this drill over at S.W.A.T Scrap Warriors, this weeks drill is a BINGO so you will have to hop on over and check it out!

Here is the line that I chose to work with:

I used lots of bit and pieces from my past 3 Scrappy Boys past kits to make my tag. So with that in mind this is what I ended up with:

Some details :)

Here you can see some of the stitching I ran along the edge of the tag....
I used one of Sally's sewing tips, about keeping my bobbin thread white to save time.
Thanks, for the tip Sally!!

I really love how this heart turned out!
First I roughly painted it using some Art Anthology.
Then I sprinkled some thick embossing powder and heated it up.
Last I added a bit of Inka Gold Rub for the final look.
Yes I had a lot of fun!!

I sprayed  mix of blues from my Art Anthology
Colorations to change the color of my Ribbon & Lace.

Here you can see a peek pf the doily that I misted and ruffled to form her dress.

I hope that you like my little tag, I really enjoyed making it! So now it's your turn to get your BINGO on! I cant wait to see what you create! Just make sure to link up over at S.W.A.T before April 30th for your change to win an amazing prize pack from Paper Secrets!

Thanks for stopping by today!
