Not your traditional wedding layout!

Today I have a wedding theme layout that I designed for Practical Scrappers using my kit from Scrappy Chic and inspiration from Bo Bunny’s White Space Layout Challenge. Triple duty project, hooray for me!
My LO may not look like a wedding layout because it’s lacking the elegant black and white theme but so was our wedding. Erin and I were married October 10, 2009 on the beautiful Island of St. Lucia, it rained almost every day and huge storm took out have the beach the night of our weeding, what more can I say it was perfect.
So with my theme in mind I went to work to find papers to match my island wedding, I thought Bo Bunny’s beautiful, bright and yet elegant Ambrosia Collection was perfect! I didn’t use a sketch I just distressed and cut and played until it felt right, so here it is I hope you like it J.

Authentique Paper July sketch challenge!

As always I raced to Scrappy Chic to pick up my July kit, I was so happy to find such pretty bright colors. As always my mind started running what can I do with this beautiful paper? Instantly I saw lots of fussy cutting begging to be done but I still wasn’t sure what to do. So as I often do I hit the web for some inspiration and I found it! I ran across a Sketch Challenge from Authentique, now how perfect was that!
First, I found the perfect pictures with Peyton wearing her favorite hat. She just loves her hats she runs around the house laughing putting her hat; she is so pleased that she can put her hat on all by herself.
Next I went to work cutting and cutting and cutting some more. I know people think I’m crazy for cutting so much but I just love the way it looks and I get lots of matching embellishments without spending too much.
Last I went to work on the sketch. Normally I change things up more than this but I really liked this sketch so I stuck pretty close to it. So without further ado here is my layout I hope you like it.

Home Made Embellishments

When I opened my kit from Scrappy Chic I was really happy to find lots of bright cheerful colors but as much as I love bright colors sometimes a little goes along way. With that in mind I found this great sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.
First it was time to have some real fun making the background. I stamped with acrylic paint, stamped with distressed ink and finished it off with a bit of Mister Huey’s Mist.
While the background dried, I went to work making my embellishments. I picked two patterns for my rosettes. Then I used some scraps to customize some clear buttons. I just love buttons they add so much to a layout and there are so many ways to use them. Hop on over to Practical Scrappers where we have 10 more ways to use buttons, well nine anyhow J.

Country Garden Collection

Here is yet another beautiful sketch from Kim Kean over at My Creative Scrapbook for the month. I had to reverse it for my picture and I had to use this picture because I really wanted to use this collection from Bo Bunny. I just love Bo Bunny and the Country Garden Collection is just another reason why, it’s gorgeous!

So I went to work sketch and collection in hand and yet it needed something more. So I tried an old trick and it worked! Just by printing my picture on vellum it completely changed the feel of my layout, it added a feeling of gentleness that only vellum can. I forget sometimes how many ways vellum can be used; it’s not just for journaling.

You want some more tips to use up your vellum stash? Hop on over to Practical Scrappers we have 10 different ways to use your vellum!

Products Used: Bo Bunny and the Country Garden Collection, Tim Holtz Distressing Ink, Clear Scraps Acrylic, Stays On Ink and a touch of stickles
